DPOYC Announces Potential Candidate for 95th State Legislative District

The Democratic Party of York County announced today their potential candidate to fill the seat soon to be vacated by Pennsylvania Auditor General-elect, current PA House Representative for the 95th District Eugene DePasquale.

After a call for interested candidates, the Democratic Party of York County received an official letter of intent from Kevin Schreiber. Several individuals expressed interest in the position however they withdrew their names from consideration when learning of Schreiber’s interest for the position. Many cited Schreiber would be the best candidate for the position.

"I am overwhelmed by the support and encouragement given to me by my wife, Jen, my family, mentors, colleagues, friends, residents of our community, Mayor Bracey, Commissioner Hoke and Auditor General-Elect DePasquale,” stated Schreiber. “I want to thank everyone for their affirmation and insight.  Eugene DePasquale has done an excellent job representing our District, and I would be honored to serve, following in his footsteps. I will proceed with my due diligence to ensure I am fully prepared to hit the ground running on behalf of our people of the 95th.”

Schreiber currently serves as the Director of the Economic Development Department and Secretary of the Redevelopment Authority, a position he was appointed to in 2009. Schreiber is also well known by and heavily involved in the community. He has served on the Board of Directors for Downtown Inc, the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Partnership for Economic Development in York County, and the Vacant Property Review Committee. Previously, he has served on the Pennsylvania DCED Civil War Trails Steering Committee and the Board of Directors for YorkArts, the York Young Professionals, the Cultural Alliance of York County Cultural Plan Steering Committee, the YWCA Community Renaissance Marketing Committee, York City Little League Board of Directors and the York City Arts District Task Force. The Democratic Party of York County will continue to move forward with the nomination process as planned. Schreiber will take part in a public forum to be held on January 8 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Crispus Attucks Center, 605 South Duke Street, York. The general public is invited to attend this event and may submit questions to the Democratic Party of York County for use during the forum. Questions will be accepted prior to and during the forum. Questions can be submitted either via mail, email at communications@yorkdems.org or fill out the form to the right.

Following the forum and Representative DePasquale’s resignation from the State House a Nomination Recommendation Committee will convene to make a formal recommendation to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s Executive Committee. The Recommendation Committee meeting will also be open to the public. The date, time and location of that meeting will be determined after the PA Department of State formally announces the House seat vacancy. The committee will be comprised of the Democratic State Committee members from York County, Democratic Precinct Committeepersons from the 95th District and all Democratic Party of York County committee members who live within the 95th District.

The Nomination Recommendation Committee will forward their selection to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s Executive Committee for a final vote.

“If Mr. Schreiber is selected by the Nomination Recommendation Committee, he would be an exceptional candidate for this district,” commented Democratic Party of York County Chair Bob Kefauver.

“He is heavily involved in the community and is well respected by his peers and colleagues. I am confident this respect will carry forward with him to the Pennsylvania State House.”
